Furniture Receiving and White-Glove Delivery for Naples Homeowners

Home / Single Service

Buying new furniture should be the fun part. Then the delivery details arrive. The sofa ships from one place, the dining table from another, and the rug from a third, each on a different day. Some carriers only deliver to the curb. Some want someone home for a four-hour window. And if you are a seasonal resident furnishing a Naples home from out of state, you may not be here to meet any of them.

That is where receiving and white-glove delivery come in. Most people associate the service with interior designers, and designers do rely on it heavily. But homeowners use it too — anyone who is buying several pieces, building or renovating, or simply not around to sign for deliveries. Here is how it works and when it makes sense for your home.

What “receiving” means

Receiving is exactly what it sounds like. Instead of having each purchase shipped to your house, you have it shipped to our warehouse in Naples. We accept the delivery, so no one has to wait at home or meet a freight truck in the driveway.

When each shipment arrives, our receiving team inspects it, photographs it, and logs it into our inventory system. Then it is stored in our 30,000-square-foot climate-controlled warehouse until you are ready for it. When everything has arrived and the house is ready, we deliver it all together and place each piece where you want it.

The warehouse is staff-managed. There are no units, keys, or gate codes — our team handles each piece from the moment it arrives until it is placed in your home.

Why inspection on arrival matters

Freight damage happens. A table leg gets cracked in transit, a crate gets dropped, or the wrong fabric shows up. The question is when you find out.

If furniture is dropped at your curb and you open the box three weeks later, the time to report damage to the seller or carrier may already be running out, and you are stuck sorting it out with the piece sitting in your living room. When items are inspected and photographed as they arrive at the warehouse, problems are caught early — while there is still time to arrange a replacement or repair before your delivery date. You get a clear record of what came in and what condition it was in.

The different kinds of “delivery”

Furniture sellers use the word delivery to mean very different things. It helps to know which one you are paying for:

  • Curbside delivery. The carrier leaves the item at the curb or the end of the driveway. Getting a heavy boxed sofa inside, unpacked, and into place is up to you.
  • Threshold delivery. The item comes to your front door or garage, and stops there.
  • Room-of-choice delivery. The item is brought into the room you choose, but may still be left in its packaging.
  • White-glove delivery. The item is brought inside, unwrapped, placed where you want it, and checked. This is the level most people picture when they think of delivery — and often not what they actually get.

When you use receiving, the seller’s delivery ends at our warehouse. The final trip to your home is white-glove delivery by our crew: protective wrapping, careful transport, and placement inside the home. Beds are reassembled. Heavy pieces go where they belong the first time.

When receiving makes sense for homeowners

You are furnishing a seasonal home

Many Southwest Florida homeowners live here part of the year. If you are ordering furniture for a Naples, Marco Island, or Pelican Bay home while you are still up north, receiving means your purchases arrive, get checked, and wait safely in climate-controlled storage. When you arrive for the season, the house can be furnished in one delivery instead of a dozen. Our snowbird moving tips cover the rest of the seasonal move.

You are building or renovating

New furniture often gets ordered months before the house is finished. Deliveries that land on a construction site get in the way, get covered in dust, or get damaged. Receiving holds everything until the floors are done and the paint is dry. It pairs naturally with storing your existing furniture during a renovation — the old pieces and the new ones can come back to the house together.

You are buying from several sellers

A room’s worth of furniture from four different sellers means four delivery windows, four sets of instructions, and four chances for something to go wrong while you are at work. Having everything come to one place and go to your house in one trip is simpler.

You bought something fragile or valuable

Art, antiques, mirrors, stone-topped tables, and lighting fixtures are the pieces most likely to be damaged by rough handling at the last step. Our crews pack and crate fine art and valuable pieces, and treat them the way we treat antique furniture — soft layers first, heavy padding over them, and careful placement.

You are moving and buying new at the same time

If new furniture is arriving around the same time as your move, receiving keeps the two from colliding. New pieces wait in the warehouse, the move happens, and then the new furniture is delivered into a home that is ready for it.

How to set it up

A few simple steps keep receiving running smoothly:

  • Call us before you place your orders. We will give you the warehouse delivery address and any receiving instructions to pass along to the seller.
  • Share your order details. Send us what you ordered, from whom, and any tracking or order numbers. That makes it easy to match each shipment to your account when it arrives.
  • Tell the seller to ship to the warehouse. Use the address we give you and include your name on the shipment so it is logged to you.
  • Ask the seller about their damage-claim deadline. Early inspection only helps if problems are reported in time, so know the window.
  • Pick your delivery date when you are ready. Once everything is in and the house is ready, schedule one delivery. Plan where each piece goes so the crew can place it on the first try.

Why climate control matters while furniture waits

New furniture is not immune to Southwest Florida heat and humidity. Wood can swell or crack, veneers can lift, leather dries out, and upholstery can pick up a musty smell in an unconditioned garage or storage room. Items waiting in our climate-controlled warehouse stay in steady conditions, whether they are there for a week or a season. The same care protects stored wine and fine art.

What delivery day looks like

Once everything has arrived and the house is ready, delivery day is the easy part. Before the truck comes, decide where each piece goes. A simple sketch of each room, or a note on each item, lets the crew work quickly and set pieces down once.

On arrival, the crew protects floors and door frames where needed, then brings each piece in and places it where you want it. Beds are put back together, and heavy furniture goes into its final spot so no one is shoving a dresser across a new floor later. If you are not sure where something belongs until you see it in the room, say so — it is much easier to try a spot while the crew is there than to move a heavy piece by yourself afterward.

Before the crew leaves, walk the rooms and look everything over. It is the same habit we recommend at the end of any move, and our tips on inspecting items at delivery explain what to look for. If you are home for only part of the year, you can also plan delivery for the week you arrive, so the house goes from empty to furnished in a single day.

Common questions about receiving for homeowners

Do I need to be an interior designer to use receiving?

No. We receive for homeowners and builders as well as designers. If you are working with a designer, they may already be using our service — you can read about how that works in our article on white-glove receiving for interior designers.

Can you receive a single piece?

Yes. One large piece — a sectional, an armoire, a dining table — is a common request, especially when the seller only offers curbside delivery. It works much like a small moving job.

What happens if something arrives damaged?

We document it with photos when it arrives and let you know, so you can take it up with the seller while there is still time. Your delivery can simply wait until the replacement arrives.

Can you deliver furniture I already own along with the new pieces?

Yes. If you have furniture in storage with us, new and existing pieces can go out on the same delivery.
